Our Vision

Why McKinley?

TK-8th Grade

McKinley is the only comprehensive Transitional Kindergarten through 8th grade school  in PUSD, which promotes continuity of education across a 10-year span and provides a stable learning environment for students. It also creates opportunities for middle school and elementary students to build positive relationships through mentorships and leadership opportunities inside and outside the classroom.

Arts Integration

In addition to specialized Arts instruction provided by Arts teachers and fine arts specialists, McKinley teachers also integrate the Arts into core subject areas such as ELA/ELD, math, and science. Students use visual arts, media arts, and theater arts to delve deeper, connect with, and explore academic content.

Immersive Storytelling Academy

McKinley is home to PUSD’s Immersive Storytelling Academy, which brings storytelling and media arts together to support students’ mastery of academic content and expand their knowledge and use of new technologies. Leveraging concepts taught in ELA, math, and social studies, students learn how to tell their stories and the stories of others using virtual and augmented reality. Learn more
