Promotion Requirements

8th Grade Promotion Requirements

To be eligible to participate in the promotion ceremony and promotion activities and before purchasing tickets to any of the events, students must adhere to and maintain the following requirements:

  • No F’s for final grades in Semester 1 & 2 of the 8th-grade year.
    • Students with 1 or more F’s for final grades in Semester 1 will need to attend credit recovery.  
    • Students with 1 or more F’s for final grades in Semester 2 may not participate in the 8th grade Activities and Promotion Ceremony.
  • All book fines and other financial obligations are paid per board policy 6161
  • 20 hours of community service completed by the end of 8th-grade year by Friday, May 10, 2024.

*Hours completed in 7th grade will be included.

In addition, students must fulfill two of the following criteria:

  • No more than 2 U’s in the last grading period of Semester 2.
  • No more than 60 period absences (10 days), excused or unexcused, per semester.  *This excludes absences for school business.
  • No more than 15 total tardies to all classes during the last grading period of Semester 2.
  • No more than 2 disciplinary office referrals.
